Maybe your add-in is registered from the IDE?

Dear Andrei,

I unregistered from the IDE
I removed adxloader which was still shown in Excel/Options/AddIns
I uninstalled from Control Panel Program & Features
I installed 1.0.15 from the internet - ok
Then the automazic update started and completed - ok
The alera version 1.0.16 shows in Control Panel Program & Features
The addin does not show in excel also not in Excel /Options/AddINs

I have to uninstall in the Control Panel Program & Features manually before I can install 1.0.16 from the internet

Any idea?

Thank you for your help

Dear Andrei,

it looks like I have sorted it out by installing any reference to the AddIn on my machine and then start again.

Thank you for your help.

Currently when I Publish with Solution Explorer/alera/Add-In Express/Publish I get the following error:

User added an image

I have to close VS and start it again to avoid the error. Any Idea where this comes from and how it can be avoided.

Thank you and kind regards

Hello Michael,

We suppose the issue is caused by a Visual Studio extension installed. Could you please check if it goes away if you uninstall all of them?

Dear Andrei,

thank you for your message. I am not sure if my VS will still work if I uninstall the extensions I have:

Advanced Installer for Visual Studio 2017
Microsoft Visual Studio 2017 Installer project
Dotnet Extensions for Test Explorer
Microsoft Visual Studio test Platform
Roslyn Expression Evaluators
Roslyn Interactive Components
Roslyn language Services

So I am reluctant to uninstall them? Can you advise me.

The other problem is that the error only comes up from time to time which means it is not reproducible.

Thank you and kind regards

This may mean the issue isn't caused by a VS extension. It may be tied on to some code used while the instance of the add-in module is being created. Say, look in the code/components you use in the constructor. Also check class-level declarations; I suggest that you move initializers of such variables to an event that the add-in module provides.
