every time I open word 2010 I get a security warning that some active content has been disabled. When I check what's going on with the COM add-ins, Word tells me that the available add-ins are not loaded. (They are: babylon translator, google desktop office, and Word OneNote)

how can I get them to load? I don't know the path to these add-ins.

Hi Seth,

In Word 2010, check File | Options | Trust Center | Trust Center Settings | Add-ins | Disable All add-ins. Probably, other settings in that dialog window aply to your case.

thanks from Seth in Israel, to Andrei in Belarus!

the problem turned out to be that under the add-ins tab in the trust center settings, I had selected "require Application add-ins to be signed by Trusted Publisher" . I unselected that, and my Com add-ins loaded.

I hope this is not creating too much of a security risk. I recognize and trust the two Com add-ins that are presently active, but do I have to worry about future malware loading itself into Word?

I'm sorry I cannot advise you to do this or that when it comes to security.
