Hi,

latest ADX 2009, Outlook 2003, 2007 - i have an ImageList with 16*16 Icons that have the usual magenta background color for transparency, so 'TransparentColor' for the ImageList and the individual icons in the toolbars (one for Explorer, one for Inspector) is set to 'Magenta'. In Outlook the icons have a diffent background depending on OS, theme settings and Outlook version - sometimes it's a decent gray, sometimes a dark blue or whatever, but it's never transparent and thus not looking very professionell. How exactly have the icons to be created and which settings to use to get icons with correct transparency regions in toolbars? Thanks...

Hi HJB,

I suppose this issue is described in Transparent icon on a CommandBarButton. Is it correct?

Hi Andrei,

tried it, but icons still have incorrect backgrounds. The icons are 24 Bit/True Color, the ImageList was cleared, set to Depth24Bit and 'TransparentColor = Transparent', then filled with the icons. After that i set icons for the toolbars with 'TransparentColor = Magenta' - background are still gray or blue or something. Do i have to use another (which?) icon format? Can PNGs be used?

Hi HJB,

Please try setting TransparentColor for the controls, not for the ImageList.

As to icons, see MS Office toolbar and Ribbon UI images style guide.
