Hello,

We currently make use of both the .Net and the VSTO versions of add-in express. I saw a forum post that said June, 16 2010 is the release date (http://www.add-in-express.com/forum/read.php?FID=5&TID=7339) for Office 2010 support and wanted to confirm that this is also true for the VSTO version. Can someone confirm?

Thanks,
Ryan

Hi Ryan,

Nope. This is true only for Add-in Express for Office and .Net. The VSTO edition will be released a bit later for existing users only.

Hi Eugene,

Thank you for your response. Does this mean that VSTO is being phased out? In the past both editions were released simultaneously, this time I didn't even see betas for Office 2010 support for VSTO. Do you have a tentative date for the VSTO release? Also, would you recommend moving away from the VSTO version and moving to the regular Office and .Net edition?

Thanks,
Ryan

Hi Ryan,

Altough we stopped seelling the VSTO edition of Add-in Express, we will provide full support for existing customers. The support also includes releasing version 2010 of this product. Because of significant testing volumes, the release will be published approx. on 15-Jul-2010, no betas of this product will be published.

Yes, we do recommend doing this. But this is you who decides. There are two VSTO features non-supported in the .NET edition of Add-in Express:
- Outlook Form Regions in Outlook 2007-2010; as a replacement you can use Add-in Express Advanced Form Regions that work in Outlook 2000-2010.
- document-level Office extensions; but you can still use VSTO (without Add-in Express) for this.
