Unabel To Register Addin With VS2005
Exception has been thrown by the target of invocation

Hi,
I am very new to Add-In Express (bought an hour before) and are having some strange problems. I created an Outlook Add-In from the scratch using VS 2005. When I try to register the Add-In throug the context menu I get an error "Exception has been thrown by the target of invocation" and the IDE says "The ...dll can not be registered. Exception has...".

So, I tried to do the same thing using VS 2008 (Framework 2.0) and it worked fine.

My problem is, that I bought Add-In Express for a customer project and VS 2005 is required.

Thanks for any help
Patrick

Hi Patrick,

Thank you for choosing Add-in Express.

Are VS 2005, Windows and Office properly updated?

Hmm, yes I think so. Both should be up to date. But what kind of older version are you thinking about. I always do an manual update when micrsoft updater is telling me. Do I need a specific update?

Actually I am using Office 2007 on my development machine but the client will use different clients since Office XP.

Kind regards
Patrick

Patrick,

Do you have VSTO 2005, not VSTO 2005 SE, installed on your PC?

Patrick,

Is it Vista? Do you run both 2005 and 2008 using "as administrator"?

No this is Windows XP SP3. And I am allways logged in as a user that has administrative rights.

Maybe this is important for you?
I had Add-In Express already installed as a client from another program (inloox) that seems to use Add-In Express.

Hope this helps

Kind regards

Hi Patrick.

Did you add any custom code to the add-in constructor?
