I have the same problem in Word Office 2003. In excel and PowerPoint it works fine. I have set "Temporary=False".
Still doesn't work.

Samuel

Hi Samuel,

Is Adobe plug-in (which allows converting a document to the PDF format) installed on PC?

It should be noted that the version of Adobe that actually has the problem is Adobe 7, and that although this exact same problem persists (I've put in multiple support requests regarding it myself) with all newer versions of Adobe, ADX Support keeps blaming it all on that old, known issue. Also, the Adobe issue involves saving Normal.DOT and if I believed that my COM Addin built with ADX was writing to Normal.DOT I'd actually be pretty annoyed.

Some things you can do as workaround:

Click Tools -> Customize
On the Toolbars Tab, Add a new toolbar
Go to the Commands tab
Under Categories select Tools
Under Commands drag COM Addins to the new toolbar

Now click OK/close until you're back to MS Word with the new toolbar present. Click the new button you created. Take a checkmark OUT of your ADX addin... click OK. Click the new button again. Put a checkmark IN your ADX Addin... click OK.

Buttons and menus reappear. Unfortunately according to some reports from clients of mine who use MS Word 2003 and Adobe Addin v8, the problem occasionally recurs (buttons re-disappear after some time for no apparent reason).

It's best to save your new toolbar (created in an Office App) as part of that app's Normal.DOT rather than as part of your ADX development.

It may also be better to include some ADX Initialize (or AfterInitialize) routines that directly meddle with MS Office apps to make the buttons on the menubar and toolbars re-initialize themselves at the application's Startup routine... it appears that the BUTTONS disappear but the ADDIN is still fully functional.

Best of luck,

Andrew

Hi Andrew.

Is this issue reproducible on a PC without the Adobe plugin?

I've never been able to reproduce it, in any environment.

All of my affected users have used Office 2003 with Adobe - Office 2000, XP, and 2007 users with Adobe have never reported it.

Hi Andrew.

Please check if the affected users use common Normal.dot template marked as Read-Only.
Also please try to uninstall (not just disable) the Adobe plug-in. Let me know if the issue still exists.

You should know better than to suggest that I ask paying clients to uninstall 3rd party software before using my developments, Sergey.

Hi Andrew.

I just wanted to determine the cause of the issue.
