Hi,

After installing Add-in Express v.8.7.4430 visual studio 2010 is crashing when trying to open any solution (even console solutions).

Any suggestions/solutions ?

Try to reinstall Add-in Express.

Hello Andrei,

There is an error message that says that Visual Studio stopped working.
Tried to reinstall but ran into the same problem.
The problem also occurs on other computers.

Please start with installing all updates on VS 2010; on my machine, Help | About in VS 2010 reports this VS version: 10.0.40219.1 SP1Rel. Then reinstall Add-in Express using suggestions below. Capture a video showing how you install Add-in Express and start Visual Studio. You can use Jing; it's free. Send me the video to the support email address.

Please follow the suggestions below when installing Add-in Express:

Close all Visual Studio instances and make sure there's no devenv.exe processes hanging in the Processes tab of the Task Manager window before you start the installer.

Make sure you are an administrator on the PC.

Set UAC to its default level.

In Control Panel | System | Advanced | Performance | Settings | Data Execution Prevention, set the "... for essential Windows programs and services only" flag.

Remove the following registry key, if it exists:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Add-in Express\{product identifier} {version} {package}

Run setup.exe, not .MSI. If this is applicable, run setup.exe by right clicking it and choosing “Run as administrator” in the context menu.

Finally, use the Automatic Activation option in the installer windows.

Hi Andrei,

I reinstalled Add-In Express just like you requested but used the manual activation because we can't connect directly from the computer to the internet.
After installing (and confirming all the things you requested - registry, versions, etc...) all types of project will not open and resulted in the message I told you.
No other detail is available.

Please check the steps to activate the product manually.

When on step 3 of 4 of the Activation Wizard window, fill the License Name and License Key textboxes with your data and click Go. This starts the default browser with a URL generated by the wizard. The page opened contains your activation code. Copy the activation code, paste it to the Activation Code textbox in the Activation Wizard window, and click Next.

In case this doesn't help. If that machine isn't connected to Internet, I wont be able to connect to it remotely. Or, maybe you have a machine that is connected to Internet and that is affected by the issue as well? If not, may I see a video showing what you do?

You can find the support email address in {Add-in Express installation folder}\readme.txt. Please make sure your email contains a link to this topic.

I don't have WhatsApp; I suggest that we use Skype instead.
