When opening a Word document from an Outlook attachment, neither the ProtectedViewWindowActivate or the ProtectedViewWindowOpen events are triggered. They are triggered when a powerpoint or spreadsheet are opened from Outlook. I'm using the adx versions of the events. The event handlers are set from the add-in constructor.

I'm disabling my UI based on catching these events to recognize that the document has been opened in protected view.

Any ideas of what happened to the events? Any workaround?

I've added a bug report to the Word for Developers forum, see http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/nl-BE/worddev/thread/0b480c6d-2110-4432-8116-420aee557d33.

I'd check if this logic works: enable the custom UI when the document is opened in the normal view.
