Hi,

We have the same problem at a client as in the post "Exception occurred during plugin installation".
What was the solution?

Only difference is that we use a newer version:
Assembly Version: 9.0.6121.0

We created a test environment (Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium Edition Service Pack 1 (build 7601), 64-bit)
but were unable to reproduce the problem locally in that test environment.

Could it be, that the client has some conflicting programs installed?

Hello,

Do you refer to http://www.add-in-express.com/forum/read.php?SHOWALL_1=1&FID=10&TID=12052, correct?

If so, we didn't found a resolution. When dealing with that issue, we believed it didn't belong to Add-in Express and it could not be solved programmatically.

Let's check if we can find a resolution for this issue.

Could you please create and then delete a custom subkey in the registry key below using the account of the user who runs the installer:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Ext\Settings

If there're no permission problem when creating and deleting the subkey, please create a simple IE Bar and try to install it. If the issue is reproducible, please send us the adxregistrator.log created while you install the IE bar, the IE Bar project, the setup project and the installer that you use.

Hello Morten,

Thank you for sending me the files.

Could you please check if there're special permissions on this key:

hkcu.OpenSubKey("Software\\Microsoft\\Windows\\CurrentVersion\\Ext\\Settings", true)

Is the user running the installer the owner of this key? Does the user running the installer have full control on this key? Can you open this key programmatically?

A good guess is that we will get a SecurityException when trying to open that key for read and write. What can we do then?
